The Shapeshifting Invader (Cuttlefish) is an invader that appeared in Space Invaders Part II. It has the special property of usually appearing upon the splitting of another invader.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The Shapeshifting Invader has a very similar appearance to that of the Small Invader, though it is more circular and only has 2 appendages.

This may have been the original concept art created by Tomohiro Nishikado and revealed for the game's 40th Anniversary. However, the resemblance to this invader is minimal and the art may have represented something else.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Occasionally when an Invader is destroyed, they will split into two Cuttlefish. The Cuttlefish Invader can grow to approximately the same size as the Squid Invader and shrink to about half it's original size, making it harder for the player to shoot it down. Strangely, in Space Invaders Revolution, its limbs simply move in and out.
