from the first game, and is the most recognizable Space Invader from it's signature appearance, as well as being Taito's mascot.
Crab has a square body (judging by in-game graphical limitations), 4 appendages, 2 eyes, and 2 antennae.
It's sprite is 8 pixels high and 11 pixels wide.
It was revealed to look like this by Toshihiro Nishikado for the game's 40th Anniversary, though it has had different appearances in later games like the other classic invaders. This version is more reliable as it is the official concept art for the original games. It is strange how the Crab has six, shorter legs while it's original sprite has only two longer ones that occasionally shrink. The Crab also has small hairs on its legs and three small spikes on each claw, though it is unknown whether these details are intentional or not.
Though it's concept art and sprites in later games make the name "Crab" reasonable, it has also appeared as its name in Groove Coaster, Puzzle and Dragons, and some promotional material.
Like the other two classic enemies, he shoots a laser downward and moves from left to right and back again coming down. One hit from the cannon should get him.
